Meaning
An informal Cyberpunk adjective describing something excellent, impressive, stylish, or of especially high quality. It can describe people, gear, plans, experiences, or results and often works like “awesome,” “top-shelf,” or “premium.”

Origin and spread
Preem is fictional street slang from the Cyberpunk setting and is formed as a clipped alteration of premium. Official Cyberpunk material glosses it as meaning “cool, awesome, badass,” while later Cyberpunk 2077 localization guidance describes equivalent meanings such as “cool,” “nice,” and “superb.” The term belongs to the tabletop setting that began with Cyberpunk in 1988 and Cyberpunk 2020 in 1990, then reached a much wider audience through Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. The exact first appearance of preem is not securely established, so the modern slang sense is best dated to the early 1990s or earlier within the tabletop tradition.[2][3]
How to use it
Preem is strongly associated with Cyberpunk games, tabletop role-playing, anime, and fan communities. It sounds playful and deliberately in-universe rather than like ordinary mainstream American slang. Use it before a noun, after a linking verb, or as a brief approving response. People unfamiliar with Cyberpunk may understand it from premium but may also mistake it for a brand name or a typo.
