Zaddy is generally understood as a playful alteration of daddy, drawing on the older slang use of daddy for an attractive or sexually appealing man. The exact sound change or coinage is uncertain. The earliest documented modern-slang example identified here is a January 30, 2016 Instagram caption associated with Blac Chyna, where the word was glossed as slang for an attractive man. The term gained notable visibility later in 2016 through Ty Dolla $ign’s song “Zaddy,” released on August 25, though that release is evidence of spread rather than proof that it created the word.[1]
How to use it
Zaddy is informal, playful, and sometimes openly flirtatious. It is most natural in social-media comments, fan discussions, texts, and casual conversation. Because it can carry sexual or age-related implications, use it selectively when describing someone who may not welcome that kind of attention.
