Sussy is a playful formation from sus with the informal adjective-forming suffix -y. Sus was already used as slang for suspicion or a suspect before Among Us, and the game gave it a major new setting: players use it to identify someone they think may be the impostor. Among Us was released in 2018 and became a worldwide phenomenon in summer 2020, helping sus and related forms such as sussy spread through gaming chats, memes, and social media. The phrase sussy baka gave the word another major boost in 2021; The Daily Dot identifies March 9, 2021, as the earliest known posting of the catchphrase associated with TikTok creator Akeam Francis.
How to use it
Sussy is informal, playful, and often intentionally childish or over-the-top. It fits gaming, texts, memes, and teasing among people who understand the reference.
