Change My Mind

Change My Mind is an exploitable photograph of commentator Steven Crowder seated at a folding table outside Texas Christian University. The original sign read “Male Privilege Is a Myth / Change My Mind,” inviting students to debate him.

Crowder posted the image on February 16, 2018 with “Hello @TCU. Come one come all. #ChangeMyMind.” It was part of his recurring campus-discussion video format, but the still image became more portable than the argument attached to it.

The first supported meme appearance is the original post on February 16, 2018. By February 18, editors were already swapping Crowder’s head or rewriting the board, turning a political prompt into a blank structure for any claim.

The template spreads because nearly every piece can change while the pose remains readable: the placard can present a sincere opinion, a niche fandom take, an absurd claim or a deliberately bad idea; the person behind it can be replaced too.

Twitter and Reddit supplied early edits, then the scene migrated through fandom pages, image generators and ordinary group chats. Its command is self-contained: the viewer immediately knows that the sign is asking for a rebuttal.

That visual grammar kept it useful long after the original event. Even edits that discard the original subject retain the table, mug and sign as a compact invitation to disagree—or to pretend an obviously silly statement deserves debate.
