Origin

Nothing Beats a Jet2 Holiday is a TikTok sound built from a Jet2holidays advert: Jess Glynne's "Hold My Hand" gives way to a bright voice promising that nothing beats a Jet2holiday. In meme use, that confidence is placed over the exact opposite—botched trips, danger and absurd bad luck.

Jet2holidays announced a refreshed campaign on December 23, 2022, with the song as its signature track. The company later uploaded the family advert to YouTube; the version that became familiar online was also circulated on TikTok in 2024.

Spread

The earliest documented sarcastic uses circulated in late 2024; a November clip of a camel chasing a holidaymaker became an early high-visibility example. Creators discovered that the polished promise works best when the video visibly disproves it.

The sound accelerated much further in 2025. Clips of tiny hotel windows, water-park wipeouts and everyday disasters made the line a portable punchline rather than an advertisement; press coverage recorded more than a million posts using it by July.

Jet2, narrator Zoë Lister and Glynne all acknowledged the revival. The brand made its own TikToks and ran a #Jet2Challenge, turning an unsolicited joke into a campaign without changing the meme's central irony.

Why It Works

The setup is instant: a familiar chorus, an overly reassuring voice and a neat sales claim. A single cut from that audio to a disaster supplies the contradiction, so viewers understand the joke before the clip ends.

When It's Used

Use it for a travel mishap, a terrible view, a delayed flight or any moment where an excessively optimistic slogan is hilariously wrong. The joke depends on contrast; a normal happy holiday clip usually has no punchline.
