Don't Say Bad Words Rainbow Dash

The meme comes from a school-poster photograph shared on Tumblr by user mylittlepony4u on February 26, 2013. The poster’s large “Don’t Swear” heading sits above Pinkie Pie telling Rainbow Dash, “What the heck Rainbow Dash don’t swear,” while Rainbow Dash’s reply is crossed out.

Its handmade look and unusually earnest warning gave the image a memorable, ready-made exchange. The original Tumblr post described it as an entry for a school poster-design competition.

The image circulated in My Little Pony fan spaces and became a redraw and reference format. People retain the basic setup—a character policing another character’s language—then replace the cast, the forbidden word, or both.

Later examples show why the template travels well: its simple dialogue and awkwardly sincere tone work with many fandoms. A related “Don’t Say Bad Words Kiddo” variation carries the same scolding structure into new character pairings.

The joke is the mismatch between the solemn anti-swearing message and the tiny, melodramatic confrontation beneath it. Because the original already reads like a captioned comic, redraw artists can change very little while making it their own.
